Our Offer
Does our chair have your name on it?
With management support, professional development opportunities, great staff rewards and flexible working, there's never been a better time to work here.
We can’t tell you how proud we are to be forward-thinking councils. That’s why we have won awards for our flexible approach to working from different locations for nearly ten years now - whether at home, our two main offices, or our satellite depots.
Not only is our flexible working around where you work, but also around the time you work depending on the needs of the business. Do you want to work around children? Not a problem. Do you have caring responsibilities, or a hospital appointment? That’s fine, take the time off when you need it and work later. Our flexibility means our teams have a healthier work-life balance around their work needs.
Hot desking, bright modern offices, coffee machines with card-operated vending machines, who doesn’t love a sneaky snack mid-afternoon?! It’s a great and welcoming environment to pop in for a meeting or spend the whole day.

Inclusion and Diversity
We have established an Inclusion and Diversity group to involve our employees in discussions to share ideas and raise awareness on a range of subjects.
We are dedicated to promoting diversity, inclusion and equality among our team and will always go the extra mile to stamp out any discrimination. We have recently created a Menopause Awareness Group and are looking at which other groups our staff would like to create.
We welcome new ideas and members.
Health and Wellbeing
Where do we start?! Our staff are important to us. They aren’t just a number; they are part of our team. Our friends. Our colleagues.
That's why health and wellbeing is central to ensure that everyone is happy in their work environment and has a good work and life balance.
We have fantastic, flexible working which really helps and with holidays starting at a minimum of 25 days per year, increasing with length of service to 30, plus all the extra annual bank holidays. It’s looking good already.
We also have options to buy extra leave, and have family-friendly policies in place to care for loved-ones. As well as that, there are a range of fun things like leisure centre discounts, electric car and bike salary sacrifice schemes and even a home electronics savings scheme. There's a fantastic and inclusive Staff Forum that anyone can join, which organises great social events for everyone to join in with.
The Councils really do look after us.
Grow your career
We're keen to make sure wherever you are on the corporate career ladder, we help you to climb those rungs!
We know that you want to be in a rewarding place with real opportunities to develop your career. That’s why we have great training opportunities, leadership development and essential learning through our ‘Learning Pool’ training portal. Together with personal development appraisals, regular one-to-one meetings with line managers and clear goal setting, your future is in good hands.
So, if you’re starting out with an apprenticeship, or even retraining in a new skill, all the way up to a master’s degree level certificate, it’s all available. If you progress, we have a happy, brilliant team member who will continue to grow and develop while also benefiting the Councils. It’s a win-win for everyone.
