Remember to bag your recycled batteries

We're reminding people of how to dispose of their batteries properly to reduce the risk of fire.

Devon and Somerset Fire Service had to attend our waste transfer station recently after a battery put in the recycling incorrectly caused a fire.

Batteries should be placed in Recycling Box #2 in a small clear tied bag, such as a sandwich bag or empty bread bag, to reduce the risk of fire. You can cover the contacts on lithium and button batteries with sticky tape to reduce fire risk even further.
