The conservation area is centred on the square and the properties surrounding it but also extends to the church and along Harpers Hill almost to the river on the east side. It then runs to the school swimming pool on the south, along Station Road to include Elmfield House and along the north side of Crowden Road to include the Sunday School on the West.
