The Conservation Area at Chagford centres upon The Square and St Michael's Church and Churchyard.  It includes the whole of High Street, North Street, Southcombe Street, Lower Street, New Street and Orchard Terrace.  It extends to the north as far as, and including, the Moor Park Hotel and ''Monte Rosa''.  To the east the boundary is formed by O.S. plot 2149 and the Jubilee Hall.  

To the south, the area extends as far as ''Highfield'', and to the west it extends up to and including No. 36 Mill Street, No. 3 Manor Road, and the County Fire Station. Within this area all buildings and their curtilages are included.  Also included are O.S. plots 0738, 2055, 9057 and 1977. A Boundary adjustment  in 2012 to rear of 1 & 2 The Old Fire Station which excludes these properties.

Addition of parts of the town of Chagford adjoining the western, south western and north western boundaries of the existing Conservation Area

Extension to the conservation area at Chagford to include Rack Park and boundary adjustment to North East of the Montessori School; extend to include medieval open fields and leats to the west of New Street.
