New homes coming to Lifton

Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Housing, Cllr Mark Renders and our housing team joined Plymouth Community Homes on 3 October to mark the start of work to deliver 16 new energy efficiency lower costs homes in Lifton.

Plymouth Community Homes have purchased the 16 new homes, consisting of one-, two-, three- and four- bedroom houses within the Oakdean development in Lifton.

Of the 16 homes, 10 will be offered for social rent and six homes will be made available for shared ownership purchase through SO Living.

The homes will be prioritised to those with a local connection to the area to meet the specific needs of the community, one of our top priorities.

The Oakdeane development is being built by Wain Homes, and the name is derived from the ancient Oak Tree situated in the centre of the development. It is situated near the historic town of Launceston, and the village of Lifton features a village shop and post office, as well as a primary and secondary schools, a collage and a nursery.

Gavin Sutton, Senior Project Manager at Plymouth Community Homes, said: “We are excited to soon be providing people with a local connection to Lifton an opportunity to move into one of the upcoming 10 rented or 6 shared ownership homes.

“The plan for the estate, with the generous open spaces including the village green centred with the old oak tree is pleasing. It is great to again be working with the team at Wain Homes who we know to build quality homes.”

Cllr Mark Renders said: “Creating lower cost, high quality homes which our local people need is one of our top priorities, and we are delighted to welcome these new homes to Lifton.

“We want to make sure that people who want to remain in the places they love can do so - housing projects such as these is making that possible.”

The homes which are to be offered for rent or shared ownership sale through PCH will be available from Spring 2025.
