If your business makes, prepares or handles food of animal origin such as meat, fish or dairy, if you supply it to other businesses (even within your ownership) you might have to apply to us to become an Approved Food Premises.
This is different to registration of a food business.
Slaughterhouses and meat cutting plants need to be approved by the Food Standards Agency.
Approved Premises usually involve higher risk operations and might have to meet more requirements than other food premises.
Approval is free of charge.
