Electric Vehicle Charging

Since declaring our Climate Emergency, West Devon Borough Council has been committed to working with our partners to reduce carbon emissions across the Borough.

We are working hard across the Borough to improve the network of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points available to both residents and visitors alike. Charging points are already available in two of the largest towns in West Devon and more are planned for installation in 2022-23.


Where are EV Charging Points available?

  • Hatherleigh car park 
    • Two electric vehicle charging bays.  These bays have 22 kW chargers operated by Scottish Power.
  • Okehampton, Mill Road car park
    • Two electric vehicle charging bays.  These bays have 22 kW chargers operated by Scottish Power.

EV charging Points to be installed in 2022/23

DELETTI stands for DEvon Low carbon Energy and Transport Technology Innovator. It is  European Regional Development Fund (EDRF) part-funded project that aims to expand the availability of low carbon transport schemes, including electric vehicle charge points and solar car ports.

Through the DELETTI project, we plan to install 22kW EV chargers with two outlets to serve two parking bays simultaneously across the following car parks. These EV points will be installed and operated by Scottish Power.

  • Chagford car park, Chagford
  • Bedford car park, Tavistock

Through the Devon and Torbay Residential Chargepoint Scheme, we plan to install EV Chargers in the following car parks in 2023:

  • Pilgrims Drive car park, Bere Alston
