Under the Representation of the People Act 1983 (as amended by the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013) we are required to undertake a statutory review of our Parliamentary polling districts and polling places.

The timetable for the review is shown below and we welcome the views of all residents, particularly disabled residents, or any person or body with expertise in access for persons with any type of disability, on the current arrangement of polling districts and places.

For detailed information regarding the review please see Icon for pdf Polling District and Places Consultation Document West Devon [175.37KB].  Also attached are appendices listing the current polling districts and polling places.  A polling place is the area in which a polling station will be selected by the (Acting) Returning Officer.  The polling place is normally designated as the entire area of the parish so that the choice of polling station or stations is not restricted, as polling station locations may need to change if they become unavailable for a particular election.

The Returning Officer's proposals in connection with the Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places have now been published Icon for pdf The Returning Officer's Proposals for the Review of Polling District/Polling Places 2019 [552.8KB], together with the Draft Polling District and Polling Places Order Icon for pdf Draft Polling District/Polling Places Order [341.59KB].  Although the exact location of polling stations does not form part of this review, for the reasons given above, any comments on the designated polling stations for each area will be taken into account.

Representations by electors, councillors, political parties and those who have expertise in disability are invited to respond to this further period of consultation, by email to elections@westdevon.gov.uk or in writing to the Returning Officer, West Devon Borough Council, Kilworthy Park, Tavistock, PL19 0BZ by 18 October 2019.
