An affordable housing drop-in event is being held on Saturday 17 August. This event will help West Devon residents find out about available housing opportunities within the Borough, especially given the number of new affordable properties which will be delivered in the coming years on the new developments in Tavistock.

Affordable housing event

West Devon Borough Council has organised the event and invited along representatives of local housing associations to allow residents, and those with family and local connections to the area, the chance to discuss all affordable housing options available to them.

The event will be held at Tavistock Town Hall on Saturday 17 August between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Affordable Housing officers from the Borough Council will be in attendance to discuss options and housing availability throughout West Devon.  LiveWest, RentPlus, Plymouth Community Homes and Help to Buy South West will all be available to help answer your questions.

There are several types of home ownership becoming available including shared ownership, rent to buy and affordable rented.  They can also chat about affordable options at Tavistock's current developments:

• Butcher Park Hill (Embden Grange)

• Launceston Road (Broadleigh Park)

• Callington Road (The Tors)

West Devon Borough Council's Lead Member for Homes, Cllr Debo Sellis, said: "We want our residents to understand all of the options for affordable housing which are available to them across the Borough.  We encourage residents to come along and find out more about the three Tavistock developments which are currently being, or will soon be, built and will be on offer in the next few years, or any of the other affordable houses throughout the Borough that are available.

"There are more around than you may think, so it's worth dropping in and finding out more.  This event will allow people time to consider what options are available for their personal circumstances."

The Council is keen to stress that these are local houses for local people.  All have legal agreements in place to make sure these homes will always be available for residents who have connections, such as, living in the area, having family in the Borough or working here.

So come along and find out that it's easier than you thought to get the house you want.
