Local residents and children in the South Hams and West Devon area have been surprising their bin collectors with heartfelt messages of praise, good wishes and colourful drawings to thank them for "keeping the country going" in the face of coronavirus (COVID-19).
West Devon Borough Council has created a Community Response Team to work closely with local town and parish councils and community volunteer groups. Working in clusters groups throughout the Borough, teams are coordinating support to quickly get help to those in need during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. .
West Devon Borough and South Hams District Councils have handed out essential funding of over £9.2 million to 703 businesses affected by coronavirus (COVID-19) in the South Hams and West Devon so far.
In the run up to the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, local authorities are reminding people of the Government advice against non-essential travel.
The Councils have put together a fact sheet summarising all the various funding packages which have been announced by the Government and ways in which people can receive financial assistance.
